PL+S: Riedel’s “Headliner Broadband RF Link” allows wireless HD video, audio and MA-Net connections
Riedel Communications, a leading manufacturer and rental house for high-tech intercom and radio solutions, is exhibiting its “Headliner Broadband RF Link” at the Prolight & Sound 2008 in Frankfurt. The system provides a wireless connection of up to 300 Mb/s for the simultaneous transport of various signals such as video (SD/HD), voice-over-IP, intercom, DMX or LAN. For example, it can supply a wireless MA-Net connection between MA Lighting GrandMA consoles and Network Signal Processors (NSPs). The solution is available as a full-service rental, including project consulting, frequency management, set-up and on-site service from Riedel’s Rental Department.
The Headliner solution works bidirectionally and consists of two combined transmit and receive units plus antennas that should be placed within visual contact of one another. The up to 300Mb/s broadband wireless data system operates in the frequency range between 5.4 and 5.8 GHz and allows a operating distance of up to 40 kilometers.
Riedel Communications originally developed this solution for the simultaneous transmission of HD video, audio and intercom signals between the airport and the event location of a Red Bull Air Race. Since then additional applications have been tested. For example, in cooperation with MA Lighting the transmission of MA-Net lighting control signals from the FOH to the Network Signal Processors (NSPs) has been tested successfully. This means that a direct cable connection between the MA Lighting consoles at the FOH and the various NSPs at large events can be eliminated.
