L.A. Live goes for Riedel MediorNet at NAB 2009
Riedel Communications announced that L.A. Live Sports and Entertainment complex will incorporate a multi-node MediorNet system. Introduced by Riedel at this year’s NAB Conference and Exhibition in Las Vegas, MediorNet is anticipated to be the industry’s next generation of fiber-optic signal transport solutions.
IPR Services, systems integrator for the L.A. Live facility, ordered eight MediorNet frames to provide an integrated signal transport and routing solution for the LA Live Complex which includes L.A. Live broadcast facility, Club Nokia, Nokia Theater and the Staples Center Arena. MediorNet combines signal transport, routing and signal processing and conversion into one integrated real-time network for uncompressed multi-channel HD/SD video, audio, intercom and data. The MediorNet solution can transport up to 153 GBit/s on a single fiber link with each mainframe providing routing capacity for 32x32 720p/1080i signals, 184x184 SD-SDI signals, 27,000x27,000 AES signals or any combination of these.
“MediorNet is the next generation of signal transport. It provides a coherent and flexible means of signal transport throughout the campus. It will reduce cabling and installation costs while providing a flexible means of routing signals for internal and broadcast usage. The built-in video scalers and multiviewer functions add further value. Because it utilizes software based signal conversion the system can grow without hardware replacements.”, says Robert Patrick, Vice President of IPR Services. Delivery of the MediorNet system is scheduled for June 2009.
As part of the L.A. Live installation, IPR Services also ordered an Artist digital matrix intercom. The system contains four Artist mainframes connected via a redundant dual fiber-optic ring, providing a distributed matrix throughout the facility.
