NAB’08: Riedel Communications Unveils Performer C44plus and Audio Assignment Software

Riedel Communications unveiled its updated Performer C44plus System Interface at NAB’08. The C44 seamlessly integrates digital partylines in matrix intercom environments and can also serve as a stand-alone matrix for small applications. The new version features a USB-port on the front to connect a PC to configure the internal 24x24 matrix via the new Performer Audio Assignment Software.

The Audio Assignment Software is an intuitive tool for editing the settings of eight pre-programmed configurations, which can be activated through DIP switches on the front of the C44plus. This expansion will enable the C44plus to serve as the heart of a small stand-alone intercom solution. It offers a 24x24 matrix with 4 x 2-channel powered digital partyline outputs, 8 x AES digital I/Os and 8 x analog 4-wire I/Os. In addition, GPIs enable the C44plus to be combined with a RiFace radio interface to integrate wired and wireless communications environments.

The C44plus system can be used stand-alone or in conjunction with matrix systems such as Riedel’s Artist platform. The system consists of the C3 digital beltpack, the C44 system interface and the C31 split-box. In addition, all Performer Digital Partyline rack-mount and desktop master/speaker stations can also be used with the C44. The Performer Digital Partyline includes all of the standard features from conventional analog partyline systems, including daisy-chaining. In addition, it features digital audio quality and allows for flexible and convenient configuration via drag-and-drop in Riedel’s configuration software Director.

Up to 16 beltpacks can be daisy-chained on each line and one C44plus can power up to 38 beltpacks. Full digital interfacing is possible to Artist and Performer 32 matrix systems. Analog 4-wire I/Os and GPIs are provided for interfacing to third party intercom systems. For stand-alone use, the device features an integrated audio matrix.

Performer C44 devices delivered before April 2008 can be upgraded in order to be used in combination with the new Audio Assignment Software.
