IBC2010: Riedel Presents MediorNet Conversion Features & Media Cards
Riedel Communications presented additional video and media cards as well as new software based processing and conversion features for the MediorNet platform at this year's IBC in Amsterdam.
To expand the possibilities of MediorNet's software-based processing and conversion tools, which already included Embedding, De-Embedding, Framestore Synchronizers and many more, Riedel presented several new features at IBC. The suite of new tools includes video conversion functionality including up- and cross-conversion in broadcast quality. MediorNet now also features integrated timecode display, timecode generation and timecode distribution. The VITC is transported via the Blackburst sync signal. To provide detailed signalization options, the timecode is available as an On-Screen-Display. To compensate potential runtime delays, the MediorNet timecode features integrated Delay/Runtime Compensation.
The new MediorNet On-Screen-Display options expand the system's usability and monitoring features. The display shows connection status, distribution status, signal status, timecode, destination or source of the video inputs and outputs.
An integrated Quadsplit-function enhances MediorNet's display possibilities even further and eliminates again the need for external hardware.
New MN-HD6IO Universal Video Card
The new MediorNet MN-HD6IO HD/SDI video card offers two inputs, two outputs and two universal connectors that can be defined by the user as inputs or outputs. This expands the connectivity of a MediorNet mainframe by 50%. At the same time the card offers a saving of 30% in costs.
The MediorNet MN-HD6IO video card is available in two different versions. While the standard version offers all software based conversion and processing features that are already available for the MediorNet system, the enhanced version of the MN-HD6IO card provides additional on-board signal conversion. Standard cards can be easily upgraded to the enhanced version.
New Road-Proof MediorNet Link Cards
To provide an even more road-proof interface for the MediorNet WDM and CWDM LINK cards, all new LNK cards are also available with Neutrik opticalCON connectors on board. These connectors offer an automatic sealing cover for maximum dust and dirt protection (IP65) and a push-pull locking mechanism for safe connection. Furthermore, this eliminates the need for an external patchbay.
New MN-ETH6 Ethernet Card
To allow for more Ethernet connectivity Riedel presents the new MediorNet Ethernet card. The MN-ETH6 offers six 1Gbit Ethernet ports for transparent tunneling data within MediorNet. The bandwidth of each port is freely scalable to provide the best possible fiber utilization within the MediorNet network. The Ethernet card allows for fiber and copper connections to provide the maximum flexibility.
