KWCH on Air with Riedel Artist Intercom

The Wichita, Kansas based TV broadcast station KWCH installed a digital matrix intercom solution from Riedel Communications. Riedel, one of the leading manufacturers of intercom, radio and fiber technology, delivered an Artist based system that also integrates telephone lines into the intercom.

KWCH is a local TV broadcast network specializing in news and weather programs. At the heart of the installation is a Riedel Artist 128 digital matrix intercom. Nine Artist 1000 series desktop control panels provide digital broadcast quality audio. Artist intercom matrices can be easily expanded to up to 1,024x1,024 non-blocking ports. Their fully redundant concept offers maximum reliability. A C44 system interface seamlessly integrates the existing digital partyline system into the communications infrastructure. Seven C3 Performer beltpacks complete the installation.
”The Riedel Artist system gives us exactly the flexibility we need. Flexibility, not only in terms of port assignment and routing – but also in terms of size, because the Riedel Artist is an intercom technology that grows with us,” said Les Bach, Director of Engineering at KWCH.
Two Artist Connect Solo interfaces integrate POTS phone lines into the communications matrix. In addition, KWCH uses 10 closed Riedel PRO headsets. The system is already installed and in operation.
